I was three years old and could do damage with a crayon. My earliest memory of drawing was waking up, sneaking out of bed and finding a crayon on my older sister's desk across the room. I knew I wasn't supposed to get out of bed if no one else was up, so I had to be quick and quiet.
Upon my safe return to the home-base of my bed, I got on my little knees and began to draw pictures...trees, people, sunshine, colorful monsters...oh, the mind of childish unbridled creativity.
Yeah, Mom was thrilled. But instead of chastising me, she and my grandmother decided to procure a roll of butcher's paper from a local market and tape lengths of it on the wall so that I could draw to my little heart's content. I will forever love them for the encouragement throughout my childhood. If there was a class to be taken or a contest to join, I was there.
Murals and stage prop design in elementary school and junior high, majoring in Commercial Art in high school, working toward a degree in Graphic Design at Tyler School of Art - all of this lead me to the place I inhabit today. I am in love with paint. I create compositions of texture, color and mood in acrylic paint on canvas and digital paint on whatever substrate works best for the collector.
I've been painting steadily since 2006 and have no plans on stopping anytime soon. Art is therapy for me. And I want my art to make a difference in the world. I hope you'll check in here often as I share my journey.
Blessings!
